Although he still has a seven weeks wait before the opening rounds of the 2009 Formula 3 Euro-series, Jon Lancaster has been preparing for his forthcoming races, with a test and development programme in both Portugal and Spain. It meant that Jon joined the rest of the Euro-series runners, for the first official two day test at Estoril on 19/20 March last week.
With a strong entry of 28 cars pounding around the Portuguese track, Jon settled in quickly by posting the eighth quickest time on day one, despite wrenching a muscle in his shoulder, and spending much of the day in pain. "I went over a kerb," Jon explained, "and wrenched the muscle in the shoulder, arm, and back, which consequently hampered my progress throughout the day. Sadly that meant I was only driving at around 95%, but I was still reasonably happy with eighth."
